The Beautiful Amalfi Coast
As part of the G Adventures small group tour, we spent a lot of time exploring the beauty of the Amalfi coastline and it’s various villages including Sorrento, Amalfi, Fuore and Positano. As we made our way around the coastline we stopped to look at some incredible views that you would be unlikely to see anywhere else in the world.
Amalfi Coast Walk of the Gods

The Walk of the Gods trail map.
On Christmas day all businesses were closed so it was the perfect time to do the “Walk of the Gods”. The walk is a challenging walk from Bomerano to Positano and takes around four and half hours along old mule paths along open hillsides and green bushland with steep drops to the sea. Climbing the steep ascent from Furore was a bit challenging for me but once at the top, walking along the windy path across some rough terrain was much more pleasant!
And then comes the hard part. 1700 steps down to Positano. Going down sounds easy? It’s not. I found this the hardest part of the hike as did those walking in my party. Walking downhill on steps was hell on my knees and shins. I ‘grinned and bared’ it as they say and was glad to get to the bottom and stumbled into a restuarant/bar/gelato establishment on the water at Positano for a very pleasant banana smoothie while we waited for the rest of our party.
If you are fit this walk is for you. If you are of average fitness (like me), this walk is also for you but be aware that some parts are challenging with steep up hill walking and downing hill stepping. Don’t worry about that. You have to do it. The views are spectacular, the walk is rewarding and it helps to understand the nature of Amalfi.
Amalfi Coast Sunset.
The day drew to a close, but Danielle from G Adventures had one more thing to show us. The most beautiful sunset I have ever seen. My favourite moment of the day.
