I’m heading off to Italy and Spain in October (Autumn) for four weeks. I try to pack the same amount of clothing for every trip whether it is for four weeks or three months. In winter I add one more jumper and a coat. As a guide I like to limit myself to three bottoms, six tops, three pair of shoes and underwear. If I want to add anything else, it will need to go through my strict justification process – it must go with everything, be light weight and take up barely any room in my bag.
I tend to pack blues, greys and blacks. They mix and match perfectly. Sometimes though, I get tired of the combination by the fourth week, so this time I’m going to change things up a bit and take some light weight coloured tops to wear over my thinner jumpers to mix it up a bit. This time I’m not taking my Kathmandu travel pants, quick dry tops or my light weight trekking shoes. I swapping them for a couple of more stylish things to walk the streets of Rome and Madrid.
